A decade of design strategy at CCA
The MBA in Design Strategy program (known as the DMBA or Design MBA) launched at California College of the Arts in 2008, a time of economic crisis, when institutions, businesses, and accepted wisdom were all crumbling.
If ever there was a time to consider how we might design a better future by designing better ways of doing business—that was it.”
To us it was clear that design was the future of business, and business was the future of design. Our first decade really demonstrated, through our incredible students and faculty, the innovation-driving power and possibilities of that stance. For proof, all one has to do is look at where our over 400 alums are now.
That’s exactly what we did earlier this year when we celebrated DSX: A Decade of Design Strategy at CCA with a day spotlighting speeches and presentations from some of the talented people responsible for molding the program into what it is today.
—and that’s just the first 10 years!
Hear from people like Nathan Shedroff, founding chair of the DMBA program and a pre-eminent experience designer, entrepreneur and author; current program chair and leading design strategy and innovation expert Andy Dong; former faculty member, Amazon-best selling author and strategic leadership consultant Lisa Kay Solomon, current students presenting The Call podcast, alumnus like Shira Kates (a former senior executive with Yahoo), and industry luminaries like Jonny Price (Wefunder, Kiva Zip) discussing Design Strategy for Social Impact.
